The gossip world is abuzz regarding Miss California’s “inflammatory” remarks about gay marriage. Comments range from “sparks furor with gay marriage comment” to “you dumb bit@h”. My, how interesting this age of new tolerance works!
I find it ironic that Perez Hilton asked a question that maybe he didn’t want to hear the answer to. Why ask someone what they think about a subject if you are not prepared to hear a response that resonates with your own? It’s fairly simple…agree with Mr. Hilton, and you have tolerance. Disagree with Mr. Hilton, and you have intolerance. Hate filled speech is sure to follow, as evidenced by ever so eloquent remarks including “you dumb bit@h“. Oh how quickly tolerance goes out the window.
I for one would like to congratulate Miss California for her honest response. It is refreshing to see someone standing firm in their faith and convictions regardless of political incorrectness. I would also like to applaud her for standing firm in her faith of Jesus Christ (did I just say Jesus…how dare I!). All too often responses are crafted to avoid offending others, cloaking truth in clever comments that are disingenuous to the responder.
Closet Christianity is what I term this type of response from those of faith. Miss California sounded at first as if she was going to deliver a response characteristic of closet Christianity, but her faith won out. You could say that she “came out of the closet”, so to speak. Come to think of it, this should have made Mr. Hilton proud…
